The Composer Dimitar Ninov: A Brief Biography

Dimitar Ninov is a published composer and music theorist, as well as an invited lecturer at international, national, and regional music theory conferences. He was the 2009 Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Composers, United States. He teaches music theory and ear training at Texas State University, San Marcos.

Ninov's music has been performed on most continents. His piano music has been published by the FJH Music Company and Abundant Silence Publishing.

Dimitar Ninov holds a doctoral degree in composition from the University of Texas at Austin and master's degrees in theory and composition from the National Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria. His research interests are in the fields of tonal harmony, musical form, and ear training. Among his former professors are such outstanding figures as Dorothy Payne and Russell Pinkston of USA, Alexander Raichev, Bentzion Eliezer, Plamen Arabov, and Neva Krusteva of Bulgaria, as well as the prominent Bulgarian jazz guitarist Alexander Petkov.
